A third birthday letter to Kicky

To my dear little "Kicky"

This week on the 18th of March you turned three. It's been a wild ride. It feels like yesterday that you were born in the car park. You have taught us a lot about improvisations and going with the flow since the day you arrived, I will never forget the sensation of your feet at the top of my belly as you birthed yourself into this world before anyone could really click as to what was happening. My little speed racer.

We've enjoyed watching you become the person you are. You're the most courageous little person we know.

This past year you have conquered the big slide, riding your balance bike on the skate park surfaces, had your first real hair cut courtesy of your older brother.. we've seen you try new foods and while you are not a fan of new foods your willingness to try has grown. You still prefer your food pureed and that is fine.

We have seen your compassion and love of animals blossom and grow as you try your best to help me take care of the pets and as you water the garden. I can see you have an affinity with nature and a love of things that grow. I will do my best to nurture this in you as long as you are enjoying it.

We've listened as your speech has developed rapidly this past year and now you are a little chatter box, we love your Mine craft zombie stories and will do our best to answer all your questions this next year. I know you have a lot of them.

You currently have an obsession with numbers and counting. Looks like you're going to be a maths man. We'll have to include reading in there somewhere!

You also seem to love construction and how things work. You show me wheels and pulleys and bike pedals whenever you see them. You follow your brother where ever he goes and you attempt to copy all things "Ed-hard" is doing. I am so grateful he is a good example for you.

This older toddler stage is going to be fun. I can't wait to see all that you will accomplish this year. As you discover your world and push the boundaries. I wonder where the winding path will take our little family as we adventure with you. You will face your own challenges Kicky, and I predict you will meet them splendidly. Your family will be here to help you.

Happy Birthday Kicky Monster.
